I am absolutely in love with my dress. I had decided months prior to our wedding that I would wear my dress the entire day and late into the evening. After almost 13 hours of being in my wedding gown, that is exactly what I did and the bottom of the dress showed it. The dress was amazing and so comfortable, I thought, "wow, I could sleep in this dress". It certainly needed a dry cleaning, so I chose to have it preserved instead, especially after all the comments I received the day of our wedding and continue to receive even until this day.
It was purely luck I came across my dress, my husband is currently in the military and was deployed in Iraq while I was left at home to plan our special day. A local bridal shop in Vermont had offered free dresses for any bride currently active or marrying into the military, so I decided to try on some dresses on my own. All of the free wedding gowns were "as is" and most were the floor samples. After hours of searching, I just couldn't find "the dress". The consultant who patiently worked with me suggested I try on dresses for sale, not included in the military special and that is when I found the Adorae.
The Adorae was the first "real" gown I found that was just right for me, but I was apprehensive about purchasing the first dress I loved. I had also envisioned dress shopping with my mom and bridesmaids and didn't want to miss out on the "dress shopping experience". So I handed back the Sottero & Midgley and walked away from the bridal shop empty handed.
Weeks following, I dress shopped and I shopped, I shopped with my sisters, my mom, my mother in-law and my bridesmaids and I just couldn't get the Adorae off my mind. I made a special appointment for just my mom and I at the original bridal shop I had visited. Once I saw the look on my mom's face once I tried on the Sottero & Midgley, I just knew that I had found "my dress".
We proceeded to the checkout and they had recognized me from my previous visit. They had apologized for not having a free dress for me . I was very humbled. Not everyone supports our military, but it does not go unnoticed when businesses go out of their way to show their appreciation.
And that is the story of my Maggie Sottero Adorae dress.
And most importantly, my husband loved the dress almost as much as I did!
